NID or birth certificate information must be provided to complete the online vaccine registration process
Those to wish to receive Covid-19 vaccine doses will have to complete online registration before getting the shots, the health authorities have said.
The Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce earlier submitted a draft list of vaccine candidates to the Health Ministry, designating which groups or professionals should get priority.
According to a member of the taskforce, NID or birth certificate information will have to be provided to complete the online vaccine registration process.
However, speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Member Secretary of the Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce, Dr Shamsul Haque said: “This is not the proper time to talk about how the online registration process will be done.
“Rather, it can be said that they [health authorities] have asked for a digitized management system for the vaccination process, so that it can be implemented smoothly and efficiently,” added Dr Shamsul, also the line director of the Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNC & AH) Program of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

“The a2i program and ICT department of the Prime Minister’s Office have been tasked to prepare the database. After it is prepared, we will be able to ascertain how the [vaccination] system will be operated.”
A few days earlier, Dr Shamsul Haque had said physicians, healthcare professionals, and staff members of government Covid-19 dedicated facilities will get the vaccine first, followed by the same groups at private institutions.
“Frontline workers fighting Covid-19, the elderly, and people with comorbidities will also get priority in the vaccination effort,” he added.
“We have identified over 6,000 centres for vaccination activities at union parishad offices, health care facilities at unions, upazilas, districts, and medical college hospitals. Besides, we are thinking of selecting some schools for this as well,” said Dr Shamsul.
He also said: “Deployment of teams that will carry out the vaccination initiatives will depend on the population under a centre’s jurisdiction. We want a team to administer at least 100 doses per session of the vaccination effort.”
Meanwhile, another source from the taskforce said that a card containing an individual’s history of comorbid conditions may be issued for prioritized vaccination.
